Power Dilators and Sizers densely compact cancellous bone to create solid walls and ceiling of the femoral socket for the bone-tendon-bone graft and fixation screw. we refer to this as Compaction Drilling. This differs from Conventional (Extraction) Drilling in that no bone is removed during the creation of the femoral socket. Compaction Drilling minimizes the chance of screw migration, divergence, and convergence. The process typically begins with a single drill hole with a small diameter wire or dilator. The socket is deepend and widened with serial placement of the successively increasing diameter dilators and sizers.
